Mounties hand Holland College their first loss of the season
The Mount Allison Mounties found an extra special way to celebrate Seniors night on Friday as they handed the Holland Hurricanes their first loss of the season, defeating them 86-74.
The ACAA defending champion Mounties found themselves in an early hole, trailing by as much as 8 points in the first quarter before clawing back to a 3 point deficit at 23-20 by the end of the quarter. The late 1st quarter push continued into the 2nd for the Mounties as the worked their way back to their first lead of the game, eventually entering the half time break with a 43-42 lead.
The Mounties continued the good work on their home court in the 3rd quarter, extending their lead before finishing off the win in the 4th quarter.
Igor Radic, playing one of his best games as a Mountie, paced the Mounties with 24 points including 5 three pointers. Radic added 5 assists. Noah McCarthy had 16 points for the winning side while Minwoo Park added 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Bryce Corless led the nationally ranked Hurricanes with 18 points. Jordan Holness had 16 points and Logan Rempel had 13 points for Holland.
With the win the Mounties move into 3rd place at 6-4 on the season while Holland remains in first place at 9-1.
The Mounties return to action on Sunday when they travel to Halifax to play the UKC Blue Devils. Holland's next action comes when they host the Mounties on Thursday, March 3rd.
