The Mount Allison Mounties lost 89-80 at home to the St. Thomas Tommies in front of a large Friday night crowd at the McCormack Gymnasium.
The game was close from the opening whistle as the teams traded leads through the 1st and 2nd quarters until ultimately arriving at the half time break tied 34-34. A big third quarter for the Tommies gave them a 7 point lead heading into the 4th quarter where they were able to hold on for victory.
Sam Pierson had 22 points and a staggering 17 rebounds to lead the way for the Mounties while rookie Jonas Munroe had 18 points of his own.
Gayo Isaya led the way with 21 points for the Tommies.
The Mounties finish out the first half with a trip to Saint John to play UNBSJ on Sunday.
