ACAA Athletes of the Week: Amanda Pearcey & Mason Brewster

Amanda Pearcey, MSVU Mystics

Academic Program: Bachelor of Science- Biology and Psychology

Year: 4

Varsity Sport: Women's Basketball

Hometown: Torbay, NL

Amanda helped lead the Mystics to two road wins versus the UNBSJ Seawolves. Her scoring touch was in full display with her ability to shoot 3-point balls, get to the rim and foul line. Amanda’s average over the two games was 24.5 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 1.5 steals.  Most impressive was her shooting, where she went 42% from the three-point line, hitting 8 for 19 shots, and overall shot 47% from the field, making 19 of her 40 shots. She also added a career-high 5 offensive boards in Sunday’s game.

Mason Brewster, STU Tommies

Year: 3

Varsity Sport: Men's Volleyball

Hometown: Bathurst, NB

Mason Brewster's offense helped the Tommies go 2-0 this weekend, as he hit a ridiculous 0.737 in those two matches to bring his season hitting percentage to 0.493. Brewster contributed 20.5 points for STU in their two victories over the Seawolves.
