Women's Soccer Player of the Year
Sacha Clark, Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics
4th year Mystic senior Sacha Clark has had a superb season in the ACAA. Moving from her dependable role as a centre back into the midfield, Sacha has shown her versatility in developing into an exceptional box-to-box midfielder. The only player on the Mystics to play 90 minutes every game, Sacha is dominant in the air, is an exceptional 1v1 defender, has unmatched athleticism/fitness, and in almost all matches has had a pass completion over 90%.
This season, she has been an attacking threat, leading the league in scoring with 10 goals. Her dedication, compete and drive could be rivaled by few. A traditionally quiet lead-by-example leader, Sacha has found her voice this season and stepped up huge leading the Mystics on both sides of the ball. She has been integral in the Mystics' undefeated season and first place finish and has made a tremendous impact on the ACAA conference during her 4 years.
Men's Soccer Player of the Year
Dan Keripe, St. Thomas University Tommies
As a first-year player in the league he led the Tommies and the league in goals with 10 in 11 games. He also led the ACAA in game winning goals with 7. 7 GWGs is an amazing feat that helped lead the undefeated Tommies to their best ever season and the highest national ranking in the history of the school. None of that would of been possible without Dan stepping up after some team injuries, playing out of position, and leading the league in goals.
Women's Soccer Rookie of the Year
Grace Gordon, UNB Saint John Seawolves
There is no other player in their first year this season that had as big of impact as Grace did. She has been a leader, vocal and very dominating presence in the Seawolves defensive shape and build up play. She has played in 11 out of 12 games and only conceded 7 goals, the second best defensive team in the league going into the last game (which she sat out). Arguably, she is one of the best centrebacks in the league and to achieve that in her rookie season is a huge accomplishment. Besides her defensive ethic to improve her team, she has managed to score two goals in set pieces.
Men's Soccer Rookie of the Year
Cam Schurman, Dalhousie Agricultural Campus Rams
As a first-year player, Cam has already made a significant impact on our team in just 11 starts, boasting an impressive .902 save percentage, over 100 saves, and stopping three out of four penalties he saw this season. Cam’s leadership on and off the field has been invaluable, guiding our defense and inspiring his teammates with his communication and skill between the posts. His ability to stay composed under pressure and make crucial saves despite near constant pressure in some games is what truly sets him apart from others. Cam embodies what it means to be a top keeper and a committed team leader in the ACAA in only his first season. We were fortunate to have him this season and look forward to seeing his continued contributions in the years to come.

Gerry LeBlanc Award
Julianna Augustine, Crandall University Chargers
Julianna is a proud young Mi’Kmaq women, she is a 4th year kinesiology major with a psychology minor student looking to work in occupational therapy. This career path was influenced by volunteering on her reserve (Eel Ground/Natoaganeg) for 3 years and noticing the need for occupational therapists in indigenous schools. Her role as an indigenous woman in a university setting is to bring light to the indigenous community.
At Crandall University, she led the request for an orange shirt day and designated Chapel to recognize the importance of truth and reconciliation in a community outside of her reserve, to not only share their culture but recognize the importance of the past and how far they have come. She coaches soccer when she is not playing herself and has coached u9 and u11 girl’s teams in the Miramichi, NB area. This summer she coached the u15 girl's competitive soccer team. These girls placed 1st in the Eastern Soccer League. She has led/assisted camps as a former Team NB player. She has coached and volunteered for many years in the Indigenous summer games. Coaching has been one of the most rewarding aspects of her life. It has helped create the leader that she is. She is a tough tackling but fair player, who wears the captain’s armband and has played in the ACAA for the past four seasons and has an exemplary disciplinary record.
Bob Coe Award
Michael Grechuk, Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics
Michael has shown amazing sportsmanship with his infectious personality, character, and a loving person within the Mystics community. With this season being his 5th and final year, he consistently cheers everyone up and looks to keep teammates spirits high when times are rough. As this is Michael's final year with our university soccer team, it is only fitting that he receives this honouring award. When the Mystics have no other options, Michael’s selflessness and perseverance powers through, as he is truly gifted player that is willing to do whatever it takes to help keep the team moving forward and succeed. Michael has proven in his time that he is a true team player, filling in roles from CB, wing back, striker, and even goalkeeper during the second half of the 2022-23 season.
In the classroom, he has been able to maintain academic excellence, being a CCAA National Scholar in majority of his time with the Mystics, and continues to finish his Bachelor of Education, looking to help lead our future in the educational system. Michael has provided back to the Mount community countless hours of work as the Camp Coordinator with the summer day camp program, showing true passion and leadership that transferred significantly into his role of being a leader within the soccer team. Michael’s ability to be a leader within the program and excellence in providing guidance on what it takes to be a team player is unmatched. Michael is an excellent role model for both any human being and athlete in the sports community. His spirit and sportsmanship will go beyond the Mystics' program.
