The men's Hurricanes basketball team (6-5) looked to have another dominant performance against the STU Tommies (3-6) in their second game of the weekend.
The Canes took a commanding 23-10 lead in the first quarter with incredible shooting from Bryce Corless. He seemed to have picked up where he left off after his strong second half performance in their game the day before. Corless went 4-4 from the field and 2-2 from three-point range, totalling 11 points by the end of the first.
The Canes led the Tommies 37-25 at the end of the first half
Owen Parsons continued his efficient scoring, nailing two threes in a row in the third quarter.
Tommies players Evan Valanne, and Noah McCarthy, tried to do everything they could in the third quarter to get their team back in the game, with both players combining for 37 of the Tommies 48 points.
The Hurricanes were able to cruise to a 90-64 win.
Key players for the Canes were Owen Parsons who had 18 points on 7-10 shooting from the field, with 6 rebounds, and 2 assists. Spencer Rossiter had another great game with 15 points and 3 assists. Finally Bryce Corless had 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists.
Key players from the Tommies were Evan Valanne who had impressive 25 points, 4 assists, with 6 rebounds, and Noah McCarthy who had 18 points, 2 assists, and 6 rebounds.
The Hurricanes look to keep their two game streak alive as they host the Crandall Chargers (8-4) on Jan. 25 at the Mcmillan Center.
The Tommies go on the road next week to take on the UNBSJ Seawolves (8-4).
