Fredericton, NB - The Mount Allison Mounties pull of the 0-2 comeback over the Holland Hurricanes to seal their spot in the ACAA women's volleyball championship game.
In the first set, the Hurricanes wasted no time building their seven-point lead 11-4. This lead would keep growing for the Hurricanes as they sat up 22-11 as we neared the end of the set.
Despite an impressive late set rally from the Mounties, the hurricanes would finish their excellent first set with the win 25-17.
The Mounties would come out in the second set on fire leaping out to a 10-6 lead. The Hurricanes would not go away easily however and responded with a run of their own to put them
up three with a score of 15-12. The two teams would go back and forth until the Hurricanes put together a late set run that secured them the win 25-20.
The third set began with another lead from the Mounties, this one, sitting at ten points 15-5. The Mounties would continue to command this set as they win by twelve points, 25-13.
This game was one decided by runs, and the fourth set was no different as we saw the Mounties leap out to a seven-point lead, 11-4. The Hurricanes would answer the call by pulling the game
back within three at 22-19. Despite this the Mounties would prove to be too much as they would win the set 25-19.
The decisive fifth set saw the two teams in a close battle at the halfway mark, with the Mounties holding a two-point lead 8-6. The two teams would trade blows the rest of the way until the Mounties pulled out the victory, 15-13.
This win for the Mounties and player of the game Ana McCain means they will play the UNBSJ Seawolves in the finals.
This loss for the Hurricanes and player of the game Marissa O'Donnell marks they end of their season.
