ACAA Athletes of the Week - Feb. 16, 2022

ACAA Athletes of the Week - Feb. 16, 2022

The ACAA officially returned to the courts this past weekend in New Brunswick, where a pair of Tommies took the reins in helping their teams to big wins.

Caitlin Jones, St. Thomas University - Volleyball
After such a long break, having strong leadership to set a proper course is important, and the captain of the women's volleyball Tommies led by example, finishing with a total of 35 assists in straight set victories over the UNB Saint John Seawolves and Mount Allison Mounties, pushing the Tommies to within a half game of top spot in the ACAA.

Playing for her hometown Tommies, the third-year Fredericton native studies Gerontology and Psychology at St. Thomas.

Almin Dervisevic, St. Thomas University - Basketball
When the Tommies needed him most, Almin Dervisevic delivered, scoring nine of his 21 points in the fourth quarter to go along with nine rebounds and four steals, helping the Tommies come back on the road to beat a resilient Crandall Chargers squad 76-71 in Moncton, with the win giving St. Thomas sole possession of second place in the ACAA after the Return to Play.

Originally from Ottawa, Dervisevic is in his fourth year of eligibility at St. Thomas, where he is enrolled in the Arts program.
