Home Opener Suspended For Men's Basketball

MONCTON, NB - The Crandall Chargers' home opener against the Mount Allison Mounties has been suspended due to unsafe playing conditions. The game was suspended halfway through the second quarter with the chargers up 31-30 in what was set to be a spectacular showing from both teams.

A hot fall day and the bleachers packed full of fans turned the Crandall gym into a humid and muggy nightmare. The temperature led to condensation build-up in the keys and no amount of mopping could dry the court to a safe playing condition.

Player safety is always priority one and rather than put anyone at risk of injury the game has been suspended with 6:09 remaining in the second quarter.

Brett Curtis was on a roll for the Chargers racking up 15 points, and going 4-6 from beyond the arc. Devon Glenn was on point with the long ball as well, draining 2-3.

Jonas Munroe accounted for 11 points for the Mounties going 4-7 from the field, including a trio of buckets from beyond the arc.

Stay tuned for an update on when the game will be rescheduled.
