MSVU Snap Chargers Win Streak, Mystics Take it 82-63

MONCTON, NB - Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU) Mystics stunned the Crandall Chargers in Friday night ACAA action, running away with the game 82-63.

In the final month of the regular season, both teams are battling to lock down one of the top spots to secure a bye in the first round of the playoffs and the contest showcased the physical play expected in a high-leverage game.

The Mystics took nothing for granted and capitalized on Crandall's woes, turning 12 Chargers turnovers into 16 points and getting 9 points on second attempts.

MSVU shut down the Chargers' starting Guards, limiting Devon Glenn (Woodbridge, VA) Brett Curtis (Harvey, NB) and Tyray Cooper (Baltimore, MD) to a combined 17 points.

With the Guards locked down the Forwards got to shine with James French (Moncton, NB) going off for 23 points including a trio of 3's and 10 rebounds, leading the Chargers in both stats. Gabriel Cormier was shooting 50% from the field and made both his free throws for a total of 12 points in the contest.

Will Spaulding of the Mystics saw 35 minutes of action and led his team in scoring with 27 points going 11 of 21 from the field with three coming from beyond the arc. Tario Sands led MSVU in boards, high pointing a combined 11 with teammate Jaxon Smith contributing 8 himself.

Since returning to action the Chargers have gone 3-3 and have seen their points per game slide to 71.5 compared to 83.5 per game in the opening half of the season. Currently sitting in a third seed in the standing Crandall holds an 8-5 record and faces four away games (Mt. A, MT. A, UKC, MSVU) over the next two weeks before capping the regular season on Feb. 25th at home vs UNBSJ.
