Hurricane Handle Chargers 7-1

SACKVILLE, NB - The Holland Hurricanes came in like a storm topping the Crandall Chargers 7-1 on Thursday evening.

Having to reschedule the original date of the match due to Hurricane Fiona the Chargers were on their fourth match in six days, hosting Holland at the neutral site of Mount Allison University's Alumni Field.

The Hurricanes came out quick, netting their first goal in the 6th minute via a perfectly placed corner kick and an even better header by Jarvis McRae.

Crandall was able to settle the play down after giving up the first goal, until the 29th minute when the Hurricanes stuck again as the through ball somehow snuck past Chargers Goalkeeper Noah Miller leading to a tap-in by Abdi Mohamud, his first of three on the evening.

A goal scored by Parker MacLeod off a penalty kick would put the Hurricanes up 3-0 going into the half and out of reach for the Chargers.

The second half of play continued to be dominated by the Hurricanes as Mohamud found the back of the net a second time in the 57th minute followed by Clay Kelly getting his first in the 70th minute.

Coly Irving accounted for the only Chargers goal capitalizing on a bad pass from the defence to the Hurricanes Goalkeeper, Irving ran hard to pressure the netminder and just get a boot on the ball as both players went crashing into the net. The goal is Irving's second in as many games.

Mohamud would complete the hat-trick tapping in the 88th minute and in the dying moments, Duncan Hunt would capitalize on a poor clearing attempt to cap the match at 7-1 for the Hurricanes.

The Chargers will not be making it to the postseason but will continue to look for their first win of the season with a trio of games left on their schedule. Their next matchup will be this coming Wednesday as they host the STU Tommies for the final home game of the season. The last time the two teams faced off was a 4-0 victory for STU.
