Rancourt Puts Up 26 In Chargers Victory Over Seawolves 67-51

MONCTON, NB - Crandall Chargers conclude the regular season with a 67-51 win over UNBSJ Seawolves.

 

Prior to tip-off, Crandall took a moment to recognize the graduating seniors in Kassidy Hamilton (Derby Junction, NB), Alexa Rancourt (Charlottetown, PE) and Emily Briggs (Bath, NB).

 

Jenny Cripps and Bryanna MacKenzie shared the title of points leader for the Seawolves with each player putting up 12 points respectively including a duo from beyond the arc.

 

Bailey Henderson came down with 10 rebounds for UNBSJ while also taking on 10 points.

 

The Seawolves had no answer for Alexa Rancourt who punished her opponents on both sides of the ball all game long. Rancourt went off for 26 points going 13-17 from the field and coming down with 21 total rebounds.

 

Kasidy Hamilton put up 15 points for Crandall including a trio of 3's from beyond the arc. Emily Briggs seemed to have a full vision of the court dishing out 9 assists to her teammates.

 

The Chargers end their regular season with a 4-14 record and will head to the postseason as the sixth seed at the ACAA Basketball Championship next weekend in Fredericton. Hosted at STU, it is yet to be determined when the Chargers will tip off on Friday though it is projected that Crandall will face off against third-seed, MSVU. The two teams have met three times in the regular season with the Mount sweeping the Chargers 3-0.
