Mystic Defeat Chargers 75-43

MONCTON, NB - Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU) Mystics came into Moncton and defeated the Crandall Chargers 75-43 during Friday evening's matchup.

 

Mystics opened up the match on an 11-point run, and it took the Chargers nearly 5 minutes before getting on the board. Crandall would answer back with a 12-1 point run to end the first quarter tied as 12's. The moment Crandall built up was ultimately halted as MSVU went off in the second quarter, outpacing the Chargers 27-8. The Mystics would never relinquish the lead.

 

Crandall struggled to find their stroke, shooting  22.7% from the field and only converting from beyond the arc three times on 20 attempts. 

 

Alexa Rancourt (Charlottetown, PE) recorded her 8th double-double of the season with 18 points and 22 boards. Rancourt is the league leader in rebounds (175) and has moved into fourth in the league in points (178).

 

Katherine Khorovets led the Mystics with 15 points, shooting 54.5% from the field. Alisha McNeil was the leader in rebounds for MSVU with 13 while Emily Holt and Amanda Pearcey each came down with 7 respectively.

 

Crandall is holding onto the sixth seed for the ACAA Championship and will look to build momentum over the final month of the regular season. The Chargers currently have a 2-11 record and will be on the road for their next four games, two against Mount Alison followed by UKC and MSVU before closing out the regular season at home against the UNBSJ Seawolves on Feb. 25th.
