Holland Hurricanes hosted the STU Tommies Saturday evening.
The contest was tightly contested but the Hurricanes mangaed to take a 4point lead into the locker at halftime.
The third quarter saw both teams tighten up but the home team managed to extend their lead to 9. In the final minutes STU made a push to close the gap but some clutch free throws sealed the win for the Hurricanes.
Kyree Thompson and Jalen Menzies each had solid performances with 25pts for the Hurricanes.
STU had nine players chip with the scoring.
Tyrese Paul led the team with 16pts and 8 rebs. Geoffrey Lavoie shot well going 5-9 from the field and 2-2 from beyond the arc to end with 15 points.
Both teams match up again tomorrow,3pm January 29th at the McMillan Centre on the Prince of Wales campus in Charlottetown.
