Holland Hurricanes Win High Scoring Affair

Holland Hurricanes Win High Scoring Affair

The Hurricanes from Holland College came into the game looking to atone one of their 3 loses on the year by the Mystics just before the Christmas break and they accomplished that goal. The trio of Kyree Thompson, Logan Rempel and Jalen Menzies combined to score 92 of the teams 113 points . Menzies and Rempel were a combined 15 for 21 from the 3 point land and hit what seemed to be every shot they took. The Hurricanes shot 57% from behind the arc and the Mystics shot 50% on 15 of 30 long range shots. The game had several lead changes and ties but it was the points off turn overs ( 24-4 for the Hurricanes )  and second chance points ( 21-5 for the Hurricanes ) that made the difference in the outcome.

The Hurricanes were led by Menzies with 36 points including 8-11 from the 3 point line, Thompson with 29 and Rempel with 27. The Mystics' Will Spaulding and Ty Murnaghan both recorded double doubles. Spaulding adding 28 points and 11 rebounds and Murnaghan added 20 and 10. Jaxon Smith also added 19 points.

The Mystics will head out on the road next weekend to play two in New Brunswick while Holland College heads home for a match up against the visiting Moutnes from Mount Allison on Feb 12th.
