ACAA men’s basketball UKC at UNBSJ

The UNB Saint John Seawolves and University of King's College Blue Devils met in ACAA men's basketball action Sunday in Saint John.

The Seawolves came out on fire jumping to a 31-12 lead. However, the Blue Devils found their legs and reduced the deficit to 43-34 at half-time. The Blue Devils continued pressing the issue in the third quarter outscoring the Seawolves 27-23 and they pulled ahead briefly in the fourth quarter before the Seawolves found another gear and closed out the game with some clutch play to defeat the Blue Devils 93-81.

It turned out to be brothers day at UNBSJ. Hunter Gray had his biggest game of the year for the Seawolves pouring in a game-high 34 points. His brother Keegan was equally as impressive, scoring 27 points and getting 9 rebounds.

The Colpitt brothers almost matched this effort for the Blue Devils. Campbell scored 28 points and his brother William added 18 to lead the UKC offensive attack. Brendan Balcom and Keenan Sparks each contributed 8 rebounds.

The Seawolves improved to 6-9 which is good for fifth place while the Blue Devils fell to 3-13 which lands them in seventh place.

The Blue Devils travel to Mount Allison University for a date with the Mounties February 10 at 4:00pm while the Seawolves don't see action again until February 11 when they host Holland College at 5:30pm.
