Chargers Cruise Past Blue Devils Enroute To Semi-Final Birth

Fredericton, NB – The Crandall University Chargers (3rd) caught fire early to cruise to a 87-55 victory over the University of King’s College Blue Devils (6th) in the quarterfinals of the ACAA Championships at the Lady Beaverbrook Gym.

Gabriel Cormier led the Chargers with a game-high 22 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Devon Glenn added 18 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, while Tyray Cooper followed with 16 points, going a consistent 8-10 from the field.

On the Blue Devils side, Geevon Janday posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards. Ethan Merlin had nine points, while Corson O’Rourke also had nine and added five rebounds.

The Chargers were firing on all cylinders to begin their championship hunt. Glenn nailed two-consecutive three-pointers to put the Chargers up 6-0 early. Glenn and the Chargers didn’t slow down all game, outpacing the Blue Devils 31-13 after the first quarter.

Crandall outdid themselves again in the second quarter, extending the lead to 30.

The Blue Devils would make up some ground in the final quarter, but it was far too late for UKC – the Chargers’ momentum had been enough to carry them to a semi-final birth.

Cormier took home Player of the Game honours for the Chargers. Merlin was the recipient for UKC.
