Mystics Hold On For Win

Mystics Hold On For Win

The battle of the top two teams in the ACAA coming down the stretch run of the league regualar season games proved to be an intense and entertaining game. However,  with a very strong opening two quarters by the Mystics the lead was twenty points by half. The first quarter was fueled by Isaac Matheson and Jaxon Smith both with 8 points, while Chase Tynes added 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Then in the second quarter it was the bench production of Adam Callaghan, Micah Anderson and Keighan Feron that scored 10 of their 26 points to bring them into the half with the comfortable lead.

The second half was a flip of the script as STU started to pick away at the 20 point lead with strong rebounding at both ends that lead to easy transition and second chance points. They cut the lead down to 5 points late in the fourth quarter with Evan Valanne scoring 10 in the quarter but the Mystics held on to finish with the win.

The Mystics return right back to the court tomorrow versus the Crandall Charges with a sstart time of 3pm, while St. Thomas heads home for the week and will host Mount Allison on Frida Feb 23rd. Both these games will have an impact on first place overall in the league.
