STU top Chargers 4-0

MONCTON, NB - On a cool fall afternoon the Crandall Chargers Men's soccer team fall 0-4 to the visiting Saint Thomas University (STU) Tommies.

The Tommies came out of the gates hot, putting a shot on net within the first minute of play. The Chargers were able to settle down and bring the pressure into the opposing end. The deep ball into Tommies territory did not deter STU as they were able to turn the field quickly and jump out to an early lead, finding the back of the net in the 8th minute of play. STU would carry the 1-0 lead into the half.

The second half of the match was non stop pressure coming from the Tommies. Chargers Goalkeeper, Noah Miller's stat line of seven saves on eleven shots does not showcase the outstanding game he had. Miller faced a barrage of balls his way in the second half including a penalty kick  in the 67th minute which he initially got his hands on but just trickled in. Brett Singer (2), Evan Reese and David Armstrong were the three Tommies who found the back of the net.

A very short bench of only a single substitute made for an uphill battle that Crandall was unable to win. However, this may well be a turning point in the season as the defensive unit played well above the level the result of the match would suggest. With three games in the next four days the Chargers will look to lock down their first win of the season.
