Saint John, NB – Ethan Druart would score in the 30th minute of the match and that would be all the Crandall University Chargers would need as they defeated the University of New Brunswick Saint John Seawolves 1-0, securing their first victory of the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association season.
Druart would open the scoring in the 30th minute just moments after Seawolves' keeper, Dylan Wornell, made a fantastic diving save, leading to a corner kick. Druart would rise up off that corner and head the ball into the cage for a 1-0 save.
From there on out the story of the match was Chargers' keeper Tim Leaman, who would stop 23 shots on the day, including a miraculous point blank chance in the dying moments of the match off the head of Beejan Hosainy.
With the win the Chargers move to 1-9-1 on the year, while the Seawolves drop to 3-7-0. Both teams are back in action next Saturday when the Chargers head to PEI to face the Holland College Hurricanes (5-1-3), while the Seawolves head to Halifax for matches against the MSVU Mystics (3-3-3) and the UKC Blue Devils (5-1-2), with their season on the line.
