The UNB Saint John Seawolves and Holland College Hurricanes met in the battle of undefeated team in ACAA men's volleyball.
The Seawolves camp out gunning, built up a sizable lead and held on against the charging Hurricanes to win first game 25-22. The Hurricanes quickly tied the match at 1-1 with a convincing 25-9 win in the second game and won a close 28-26 battle in game three to go up 2-1. The Seawolves jumped out to a 10-3 lead in game four and hung on for a 25-21 win to tie the match 2-2. The Hurricanes rebounded to take the fifth game 15-12 and win the match 3-2.
Brett Butler led the way for the Hurricanes with 15 kills. Nathan Archibald had 35 assists and Gordon Veitch had 8 digs for the winners.
Luke O'Grady had 16 kills for the Seawolves. Zane Hamilton added 13 and Patrick Kendall had a game high 44 assists and also chipped in with 9 digs.
The Hurricanes held on to first place with the win and remain undefeated with a 5-0 record while the Seawolves suffered their first defeat and check in at 3-1 which leaves them in second place. The teams play again Sunday, December 3 at 12:00 PM.
