The St. Thomas Tommies fell 78-57 to the Crandall University Chargers in ACAA women's basketball action Saturday afternoon in Fredericton.
Shamera O'Neal led the Chargers with 23 points and 12 rebounds for the double-double, while Jessica Patenaude led the Tommies with 12 points and six boards.
The first quarter was tight, but the Chargers pulled away in the second and held a comfortable 40-21 lead at the break. The Tommies came out strong in the third quarter, cutting into the Chargers lead, but defensive breakdowns kept them from completing the comeback.
