The St. Thomas University Tommies edged the University of Kings College Blue Devils 77-69 in ACAA women's basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Lady Beaverbrook Gym.

Sara Banks led the Tommies with 21 points and three assists, while Katelynn Carver chipped in with 15 points and seven rebounds.

Candace Reynolds led the Blue Devils with 15 points and Rebecca Evans added 10.

The Tommies stormed out to an early lead, fuelled by defensive intensity and hot shooting.  After one quarter, the home team led 25-9 but the Blue Devils came out ready to play in the second and connected for 24 points.  Despite their second quarter push, the Tommies held a comfortable 49-29 lead at the break.

The second half was a different story -- The Tommies managed a mere 9 points in the third, while the Blue Devils connected for 18. The Blue Devils upped their pressure in the fourth and got within two points of the Tommies. Eventually the Tommies regained their composure and managed to close out the game.
