Sunday saw the second game of the weekend of the Hurricanes vs the Tommies
The first quarter started with a bang for hosts with Lisa Bolander hitting her first three shots. The home team jumped out to an early lead 15-3 lead. After a motivational timeout the Tommies came out with more energy, better defense and brought the game back to within 4 before the 'Canes went on another run to end the first quarter 26-19.
Second quarter saw the 'Canes stretch the lead, at halftime it was 40-31.
At the start of the 4th quarter the Hurricanes led by 10, 54-44, then the Tommies closed the gap, with 3:07 to play the game was 61-60.
The Hurricanes executed well done the stretch and hit some key free throws to win 68-62.
Charlie Connors was the leading scorer for the Tommies with 15 points.
Lisa Bolander carried the load with 26 points and Karla Benitez pitched in with 17pts, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.
Holland College improve to 9-3 and will be on the road next weekend to visit UKC and MSVU.
STU drop to 7-4 and will Mt Allison Friday Feb 3.
