Mounties Outlast Chargers

The Mount Allison Mounties faced off against the Crandall Chargers on Friday night in McCormick Gymnasium. The Mounties had a fast start scoring the first 15 points of the game. Crandall would score the next 16 pts points to take the league. Crandall kept rolling with the momentum in the second quarter outscoring the Mounties 16-8 to knot up the score at the end of the second half 33-33. The Mounties came out firing in the second half taking with a 13-0 run. Crandall would charge all the way back, taking the lead with four minutes left in the contest. In the end, the Mounties prevailed and took home a hard-fought victory by a final score of 56-53.   

Leading the way for the Mounties, was Lauren Furlong who scored 16 points. It was a well-balanced attack for the Mounties in this contest as Maddie Greatorex and Torrie Janes pitched in for the Mounties scoring 14 pts and 12 pts, respectively. The Chargers got their biggest contribution from Alexa Rancourt who scored a game high 20 pts coming off the bench, while Kassidy Hamilton also made a significant contribution with 14 pts. Rancourt would supplement her big night leading the chargers with 11 rebounds, while Danielle Alexander had 7 rebounds for the Mounties.  

The Mounties (11-2) will be traveling to PEI on Sunday for a 1:00pm matchup. They will face off against a formidable Holland Hurricanes team who's trying to chance down the league leading Mounties. 

Chargers (2-12) will be back in action on Wednesday night in a rematch of tonight's game as they will once again travel to Sackville for a 6:00pm rematch.
