ACAA women’s soccer

The UNB Saint John Seawolves took on the Crandall University Chargers in ACAA women's soccer action Sunday at the Canada Games Stadium.

The Seawolves had the territorial advantage in the first half but keeper Logan Bushey was up to the challenge making several good saves. Karlee Duval put the Seawolves on the board early in the second half when she scored a beautiful goal on a curved shot just inside the far post. The Chargers tried to use the wind advantage in the second half but could not generate a serious threat until the last play of the game when a corner kick resulted in a wild scramble in the six yard box. Keeper Marina Comeau somehow grabbed the loose ball and that was the game with the Seawolves winning 1-0.

The Seawolves outshot the Chargers 16-7 and had four corner kicks to three for the Chargers.

The Seawolves improved to 2-2-3 while the Chargers fell to 1-6. The two teams play a 6:00pm game Wednesday, October 3 at Crandall in the second half of a home and home series.
