Chargers and Mystics Draw in Return of ACAA Women's Soccer

MONCTON, NB. - After a long awaited return to the pitch, the Crandall University Chargers women's soccer team earned a 1-1 draw against the visiting Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics.

A sunny afternoon saw a tightly contested match with neither team able to find the back of the net in the first half. MSVU's Kayler Clair opened up the scoring with a goal in the 52nd minute. The Chargers were able to answer the call quickly as Emily Briggs buried the tying goal in the 64th minute.

The Mystics kept the pressure high in the second half of the match putting five shots on net with the Chargers defense refusing to break. Goalkeeper Maya Clapperton led the defensive stand with a total of 9 saves in the match.

The Chargers women's soccer team will look to build upon their solid start with a quick turn around, hosting the University of King's College Blue Devils tomorrow afternoon. Sunday's match will kick off at 1p.m., followed by the men's game at 3:15 p.m..
