Chargers Log Second Draw of the Season

MONCTON, NB - Crandall Chargers log second draw of the season with a 1-1 scoreline against the visiting University of King's College (UKC) Blue Devils.

Crandall took the first half by storm with a peppering of shots and the midfield feeding the strikers into open space. The offensive surge was led by Coutney Lutes, who put four shots on net including Crandall's lone goal. Lutes scored on a free kick in the 35th minute of play that was deflected off the wall and past the outstretched hands of UKC Goalkeeper Rebecca Florean.

Crandall goalkeeper Maya Clapperton kept a clean sheet in the first half, stopping all four shots she faced. The Chargers defense was anchored by Julianna Augustine, who asserted herself by stopping a breakaway opportunity in the 43rd minute and getting her body in front to block a shot in stoppage time. In the dying seconds of stoppage time in the first half, UKC took a counter attack the full length of the field but were unable to finish the drive.

The Blue Devils made adjustments at the half and came out with momentum, putting several balls directly on the net. The equalizer for the Blue Devils came in the 52nd minute by Anna Dugandzic. UKC's Lucy Carolan was issued a yellow card in the 63rd minute of play. The Blue Devils were knocking at the door late in the match, but were unable to capitalize as a shot rang off the crossbar in the 84th minute.

The Chargers will look to get their first win of the season this coming Wednesday, September 15 as they head to Fredericton to face the 1-1 St. Thomas University Tommies.
