Chargers Drop First of the Season to Seawolves

Moncton, NB - Crandall Chargers drop their first match of the year Saturday, to the visiting University of New Brunswick Saint John (UNBSJ) Seawolves 4-1.

The Seawolves jumped out to an early lead with Karlee Duval finding the back of the net in the first minute of play. The Chargers had an early opportunity to tie it off a free kick taken by Courtney Lutes, but were ultimately turned away. UNBSJ took a 3-0 lead into the half, scoring goals in the 25th and 36th minute by Hanah Ranni and Jocephine Splitberger, respectively.

Crandall came out fast in the second half keeping the ball deep into Seawolves territory. Amy LeBlang scored the lone goal for Crandall, muscling the ball through the Goalkeeper in the 53rd minute. The Seawolves would answer back in the 60th minute, via Makayla Martin, putting a halt to Crandall's momentum.

Seawolves Allee Bezea (21') and Chargers Emily Briggs (63') were each issued yellow cards during the match.

The Chargers will turn their attention to Thursday's match at Holland College as they look to secure their first win of the season.
