(Halifax, N.S.) – The Holland College Hurricanes defeated the St. Thomas Tommies 7-0 in the opening game of the 2023 ACAA Women's Soccer Championship.

The number one seeded Hurricanes opened the scoring just six minutes into the game, with Emma MacIntyre finding the back of the net. 2023 ACAA Player of the Year Emily Lepine scored her first of four goals in the match less than 10 minutes later to put the Hurricanes up 2-0.

Kina Azuma put the Hurricanes up 3-0 in the 43^rd minute, with teammate Emma MacIntyre adding one of her own to close out the first half 4-0.

St. Thomas had several chances in the first half but keeper Allie Rutt was solid turning them all away.

Holland continued the pressure in the second half with Lepine scoring in the 56^th, 71^st and 73^rd minutes to win the game 7-0.

Lepine was named the Lawtons Player of the Game for Holland, while Olivia Filmore received the honour for St. Thomas.

Holland will advance to the championship round to face the winner of the second semifinal featuring the Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics and University of Kings College Blue Devils Sunday at 12:00pm.
