UKC top Mystics to advance to final

(Halifax, N.S.) – The University of King's College Blue Devils defeated the MSVU Mystics 1-0 in penalty kicks in the second semifinal of the 2023 ACAA Women's Soccer Championship.

The Mystics controlled possession of the ball early on in the match and had one of their best chances in the dying minutes of the first half but found a post instead of the back of the net. Both keepers were busy in the game, especially in the first half. With both teams unable to find the back of the net, the game was knotted at 0-0 headed into half time.

Mount Saint Vincent came out hot driving to the net to start the second half but were unable to capitalize. The Blue Devils again had their fair share of chances but at the end of 90 minutes, the score remained tied 0-0.

When two 15-minute periods of overtime didn't solve anything, the game went to penalty kicks. It took seven rounds of shots to determine a winner and it was Kings who came out on top.

Keeper Emma Kuzmyk was named the Lawtons Player of the Game for Kings, while Mhyah Allen received the honour for Mount Saint Vincent.

Kings will advance to the championship final to face the Holland College Hurricanes. Kick-off is at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 29, 2023.
