ACAA Women”s Volleyball

The UNB Saint John Seawolves and St. Thomas University Tommies met in ACAA women's volleyball midweek action at the G. Forbes Elliot Centre.

The Seawolves got off to a good start winning the first set 25-19. They carried the momentum into the second set but the Tommies slowly gained control of the match, winning the second game 25-22 to tie it at 1-1. The Tommies dominated the third set 25-16 and appeared to be doing the same in the fourth set when they built up a 19-11 lead but the Seawolves showed heart in clawing their way back into the game. They reduced the deficit to 23-22 before STU finally finished off the fourth game 25-22 to beat the Seawolves 3-1 for the second time in four days. 

Deidra Jones had 9 kills and 15 digs to lead the Tommies who also got 6 kills and 12 digs from Megan Mills. Veronique McGrath had 21 assists and Jenicca Jean had 18 digs.

The Seawolves were led by Jenna DeGouyer who had 12 kills and 16 digs. Megan McCrea-Kozak had 23 assists while Olivia Bell checked in with 21 digs.

The win enabled the Tommies to jump into second place with an 8-4 record. The Seawolves fell to 8-4.

The Tommies next action is Saturday at 4:00pm when they host the University of King's College  Blue Devils. The Seawolves host the University of Sainte Anne Saturday at 4:00pm.
