The UNB Saint John Seawolves took on the St. Thomas Tommies in ACAA women's volleyball Thursday in Saint John. The Tommies won a close first set 25-23. That set the tone for the evening as the Tommies won the second set 25-21 and then closed out the match 3-0 with a 25-23 win in the third set.
The Tommies used a balanced attack to penetrate the Seawolves defense. Megan Mills had 7 kills and 10 digs to lead the winners. Deidra Jones had 6 points and a match-high 17 digs and Veronique McGrath added 16 assists.
Jenna DeGooyer had 9 kills and 11 digs to lead the Seawolves. Taylor McGrattan had a match-high 25 assists and Maggie Birney had 8 kills.
The Tommies move to 13-5 for the season which leaves them in third place and also put some distance between themselves and the Seawolves who now sit in fourth at 11-8.
The Tommies Seawolves host the Dalhousie Agricultural Campus Rams Saturday February 10 at 4:00 PM while the Seawolves host the same Rams Sunday February 11 at 11:00 AM.
