The UNBSJ Seawolves topped the Mount Allison Mounties 3-0 in the ACAA women's volleyball quarterfinal at Lady Beaver Brook Gymnasium today.
The teams kicked off the ACAA Championship tournament in the first of two quarterfinals, as the Seawolves earned their place in the semifinals with set scores 25-21, 25-22, 28-26.
Danya Alexander from the Seawolves had 14 kills, while Maggie Birney and Madison Hartos both collected 10. A lot of athletic plays were made in an effort to recover from unforced errors, but the Saint John squad managed to put the pieces together for a win.
For the Mounties, Melissa McAnsh collected 19 digs, which supported the team's efforts in serve receiving and defence. Offensively, Rachel Van Gestel tallied eight kills and Marika Wildeboer had six.
With the win, the Seawolves move on to face the MSVU Mystics in the semifinals at 12:00pm at Lady Beaverbrook Gym.
