Chargers Take Care of Dragons to Advance in Playoffs

MONCTON, NB - Crandall Chargers Women's Volleyball will advance in the playoffs after taking care of the Universite de Saint Anne Dragons 3-1 (25-22, 23-25, 25-18, 25-23) on Sunday afternoon.

Both teams played their hearts out in this thrilling back and forth contest where every set came right down to the wire. Crandall did not disappoint in their final home game of the year, putting on a hitting clinic which the Dragons had no answer for.

Chargers Captain, Melora Cook made her impact known in a big way, leading her team in Kills with 21 and 9 digs. Cooks also added a pair of service aces for a total of 23 points scored.

Janelle Blanchette led the team in total points scored with 26, recording 5 solo blocks a pair of block assists and aces as well as 19 kills. Amy LeBlang was all over the court racking up 48 assists, 8 digs and one cheeky kill.

Makayla Leger led the Dragons with 12 kills, adding a service ace for a total of 13 points. Marie-Pier Grant had a strong outing that won't show up on the stat line, controlling 26 of Crandall's serves and keeping the Dragons in the match.

Janelle Blanchette and Marie-Pier Grant were selected as the ACAA Players of the Game for the Chargers and Dragons, respectively.

The Chargers will move forward in the playoffs as they will set off for their next match Tuesday evening in Charlottetown P.E.I against the first seed Holland Hurricanes. It will be a tough order for Crandall as they have been swept 3-0 in both of their previous meetings with Holland this year, but with the momentum of back to back wins the Chargers will be ready to play.
