ACAA Athletes of the Week - Mar. 9, 2022

ACAA Athletes of the Week - Mar. 9, 2022

The final week of the regular season saw impressive performances on both the basketball and volleyball courts, with a number of clutch outings from ACAA student-athletes securing playoff sports for their teams.

Janelle Blanchette, Crandall University - Volleyball
A First Team All-Conference selection after leading the ACAA in kills and aces, Janelle Blanchette lived up to the billing in the final week of the Chargers' regular season, posting a game-high 17 kills to go with three service aces and six digs to lift Crandall over University of King's College in four sets to secure home court for the ACAA Women's Volleyball Play-In Game against Universite Sainte-Anne.

The Cap-Pele, N.B. native again played a starring role for Crandall in the Play-In Game, posting 19 kills, six digs and five solo blocks to lead the Chargers past the Dragons in four sets, setting up a quarterfinal matchup with the Holland College Hurricanes tonight.

Blanchette is in her second year of study at Crandall University, where she is in the Bachelor of Arts program.

Jayden Nordin, University of King's College - Basketball
In his final ACAA regular season game, Jayden Nordin left it all on the floor, rallying the Blue Devils back from an early 19-point deficit to defeat their crosstown rival Mount St. Vincent University Mystics 83-80. All told, Nordin accounted for 38 points in the game, including 27 in the second half, to go along with six steals to carry University of King's College to its highest regular season finish since 2015-16, securing a road playoff game in Moncton against Crandall tonight.

The Halifax native will be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree this spring, with plans to complete a second Bachelor's Degree in Social Work.
