ACAA Athletes of the Week - Mar. 16, 2022

ACAA Athletes of the Week - Mar. 16, 2022

Over the next two weeks, the ACAA's Athlete of the Week feature will cover performances from the recently-concluded ACAA Championships. This week, our focus is on standout volleyball performers.

Becca MacDonnell, Mount St. Vincent University
Throughout the last week of playoff action, Becca MacDonnell was a defensive force for the Mystics, opening the playoffs with 12 digs and five assists in Mount St. Vincent's straight-set quarterfinal win over the University of King's College, then adding other 20 digs and four assists in the Mystics' five-set semifinal win over Mount Allison University before closing with 17 digs in a straight-set win over St. Thomas to help Mount St. Vincent reclaim its hold atop the ACAA.

The fourth-year Mystic from Mount Uniacke is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science program at Mount St. Vincent, majoring in Biology.

Garret Dickson, St. Thomas University
A model of consistency for the men's volleyball Tommies, three-time All-Conference selection Garret Dickson was perfect in St. Thomas's semifinal win over Holland College with nine kills on nine attacks, paired with five blocks. He showed similar aptitude in the Tommies' two-match sweep of the Universite Sainte-Anne Dragons to capture St. Thomas's second straight ACAA title, finishing the series with a combined 16 kills in 24 attacks and a .500 hitting percentage.

The Miramichi, N.B. native is in his fourth year of eligibility at St. Thomas University, where he is studying Education.
