The Mount Allison Mounties held off a late surge by the Crandall Chargers for an 83-80 win in Moncton in mid-week Men's ACAA Basketball action. The Mounties used a balanced attack with Sam Pierson leading the way with 16 points and 7 rebounds with 5 others also scoring in double-figures. The Chargers were led by Jerome Adjei with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Mount Allison used a strong second quarter to build a 9 point halftime lead and led by as many as 16 in the 3rd quarter before the Chargers stormed back to bring the game within one in the final minutes. The Mounties stifling defense secured the 3 point victory.
With the win, the Mounties maintain their lead in the conference standings with a 7-2 record while the Chargers fall to 4th place. The Mounties are in action again on Sunday when they host the Mount Saint Vincent Mystics while the Chargers host the St. Thomas Tommies on Saturday.
