Hurricanes return strong after long break

The Hurricanes and Chargers both had their offenses come to play in their return to regular season action on Sunday. Both teams lit up the scoreboard with the 'Canes holding a slim 30-26 lead after the opening frame. The 'Canes would start pulling away in the second as they took a 59-42 lead at the half.

 

Jordan Holness had 19 points (7/7 from the field, 4/4 from 3, 1/1 from the free throw line) in the third giving the 'Canes an 89-61 lead through three. The Chargers would push in the fourth, reducing the 'Canes lead by seven.

 

Holness led all scorers with 32 points in the game while also adding four rebounds and four assists.

 

Logan Rempel came off the bench with 20 points, three rebounds, two assists, and three steals.

 

Tyray Cooper also had an excellent game off the bench with 17 points, four rebounds, three assists, five steals.

 

Bryce Corless added a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

 

Sacha Gauthier (25), Devon Glenn (23), and Brett Curtis (21) each poured in over 20 points for the Chargers.

 

The 'Canes move to 9-0 and hold a slim lead a top the conference standings over the 8-2, STU Tommies. The Chargers fall to 5-5 and are now tied for third in the conference.
