ACAA men’s basketball

 

The UNBSJ Seawolves hosted the STU Tommies Saturday in Saint John.

The Tommies were looking to strengthen their hold on 2nd place while the Seawolves wanted to gain ground on UKC and MSVU in the race for 5th place.

The first half featured end to end action and finished tied 37-37. STU held a narrow three point lead after the 3rd quarter but got hot when it mattered in the 4th quarter out scoring the Seawolves 24-13 to emerge with an 84-70 victory.

Geoffrey Lavoie led the Tommies with 23 points. Almond Dervisevic (15), Ted Braden (15), and Vincent Lyttleton (14) also contributed double digit scoring for the Tommies. Braden and Lyttleton also had 7 rebounds apiece while Dervisevic had a game high 4 steals.

Tanner Hoyt scored 22 points for the Seawolves. Jack Fury-Miller scored 14 points and a game high 9 rebounds and Adam Lambert had 14 points and 5 assists.

The Tommies now have a record of 9-2 to sit one game behind Holland College in the battle for 1st place. The Seawolves stand at 1-10 and sit in 7th place, two games behind MSVU and UKC. 

The Seawolves complete the regular season when they travel to Moncton to play the Crandall Chargers March 5 at 3:00pm while Tommies host the Holland Hurricanes in a crucial end of the season matchup that could determine 1st place.
