ACAA Star Signs 1-year Deal With Moncton Motion

Moncton, NB – Crandall University Men’s Basketball star, James French, will suit up for the Moncton Motion in its inaugural season.

The Moncton native signed a 1-year contract with the Motion, mere weeks after a stand-out performance at the ACAA Men’s Basketball Championships with the Crandall Chargers, where French was named a 2nd Team All-Conference player.

French, a 6’5 Forward, recently completed his 5th year in the ACAA – one year with Crandall University, and four years with the Mount Allison Mounties.

French will be returning to Crandall University in the fall to continue his academic studies. He credits his experience as an ACAA student-athlete with providing him with the necessary tools to feel confident in being able to balance his academics with the rigorous schedule that comes with playing pro basketball.

“My experience as a student-athlete with Mount Allison and Crandall will definitely serve me well next season with the Motion,” said French. “Good habits; staying on top of things. Part of being a student-athlete is making sure that you take care of the schoolwork first so you can go into the game with a clear mind.”

French is excited to give back to the basketball community in Moncton.

“My goal coming back to Moncton, after playing at MTA, was to help build the basketball community in my hometown,” he said. “My family had season tickets to the Moncton Miracles. I remember trying to get high-fives from the players. To be in a similar position now certainly feels surreal.”

The Moncton Motion is the seventh franchise to join the Eastern Canadian Basketball League. The team will play its home games at the Avenir Centre.
