Tommies Route Mounties, Advance To ACAA Final

Fredericton, NB – The St. Thomas University Tommies (1st) have earned a spot in the ACAA Men’s Basketball Final after running over the Mount Allison University Mounties (5th) 94-57 in a semi-final match.

Tre Campbell led all scorers with 23 points and four rebounds, while going 5-6 from beyond-the-arc. All-Conference Second team and Defensive Player of the Year, Gayo Isaya, came up huge, finishing with 12 points, five rebounds, and five assists.

Jonas Munroe led the Mounties with 15 points, while Noah McCarthy added 11 points.

The Tommies came out hot, as ACAA Player of the Year, Geoffrey Lavoie, started things off with the jumpshot from the free-throw line, followed by a three ball from Campbell, to give STU a 5-0 lead. The Tommies went on to score the next 11 points, taking a 16-0 lead.

The Tommies took a 49-28 lead into the half and continued to dominate in the second half, earning another trip to the ACAA finals.

STU awaits the winner of the Holland College Hurricanes (2nd) and Crandall University Chargers (3rd) to see who they’ll face in the ACAA Men’s Basketball Final on Sunday at 3:00 PM.
