(Halifax, N.S.) – The Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics topped the number one-seeded St. Thomas Tommies 3-0 in the first semifinal of the 2023 ACAA Men's Soccer Championship.
Nick Bryden opened scoring with a penalty shot for the Mystics after a foul was called in the Tommies box to put them up 1-0.
Aiden Whelan added a goal of his own in early in the second half off a beautiful cross from Amath Bojang to put the Mystics up 2-0.
The Tommies rallied with chances of their own, but were unable to capitalize on any of their chances.
With five minutes added to regulation time, Bojang scored a third goal for the Mystics in the 95th minute to seal the victory.
Keeper Aiden Whelan was named the Lawtons Player of the Game for Mount Saint Vincent, while Chidubem received the honour for St. Thomas.
Mount Saint Vincent will advance to the championship final to face the winner of the second semifinal, featuring University of Kings College and Holland College. Kick-off is at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 29, 2023.
