Canes headed to CCAA National Championships

The Holland College Hurricanes are Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association men's volleyball champions.  The Hurricanes laid claim to the title with a decisive 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-23) victory over the UNBSJ Seawolves Sunday at DAL AC's Langille Athletic Centre.

The victory earns them a trip to the CCAA National Championship Mar 9-12 at Fanshawe College in London Ontario.

There was little separating the teams in both skill and intensity.  The squads typically matched each other point-for-point and swapped the lead several times with the exception of the second set when the Hurricanes were able to build a cushion.

Brett Butler scored 10 kills and added nine digs to earn the Player of the Match award for the winners.  Tynan Murphy led the Canes defense with 10 digs.

Patrick Kendall collected nine digs to claim the Player of the Match honor for UNBSJ.  Luke O'Grady paced the attack with 11 kills and Jacob McLean came up with 11 digs.
