ACAA women’s basketball

The UNB Saint John Seawolves and the St. Thomas Tommies squared off in ACAA women's basketball action Sunday in Saint John.

The Tommies stormed out to a 20-2 lead and the Seawolves tried desperately to get back into the game. The Tommies held their ground in the first half and led 45-28 going into the third quarter but the Seawolves started to chip away at the lead and got to within 8 points late in the quarter. However, the Tommies finished the game on a tear, outscoring the Seawolves 20-5 in the fourth quarter to win the game 87-61.

Bridget Frazee led a balanced Tommies attack with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Madison Owens had 16 points to go with 5 rebounds. Alana Dowling had 11 points and 7 rebounds while Jessica Patenaude finished with 11 points and 6 rebounds. 

The Seawolves were led by Kelsey Simon's 18 points and 7 rebounds. Jillian McNally added 11 points and 5 rebounds. Kathryn Magee added 9 points and Megan Baisley finished with a game high 8 rebounds.

The Tommies now sit at 6-6 for the season which leaves them alone in fourth place. The Seawolves are 2-9 and in sixth place. 

The next game action for both teams will be February 3. The Tommies host Crandall University Chargers at 2:00pm while the Seawolves host University of King's College Blue Devils at 4:00pm.
