Mystics top Mounties

Mystics top Mounties

The MSVU Mystics Women's basketball team completed the home and away sweep of the visiting Mount Allison Mounties today in ACAA action. Both teams came out pretty hot in the first quarter which ended in a 22-17 lead for the Mystics with most of their damage coming off the Mounties 10 turn overs. In the second the Mystics went cold from the field in large part to the Mounties pressure which allowed them to take the lead into the half time 37-36. The third quarter was the story of the game. The Mystics pressure was just too much for the Mounties which caused them to cough the ball up 8 times leading to quick transition points for the home team. The Mounties also struggled in the half court as well as they shot 2-18 from the field and 0-4 from the three point and just couldn't buy a basket. The end result was a 35-5 quarter in favour of the home team and from there it was pretty much over. The Mounties did win the fourth on some great hustle plays but just not enough to overcome the hole they dug after 30 minutes.

The Mystics now have one game remaining before the ACAA playoffs when the visiting Crandall Chargers come to town on Saturday Febuary 29th at 2pm. This will also mark seniors day for the graduating players, Kelsey McGrath and Julia Kokonis.
