MTA's Ryan Chase Named CCAA Women's Basketball Coach Of The Year

Hamilton, ON - Ryan Chase of the Mount Allison Mounties has been named the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year.

Chase guided the Mounties to the best regular season in program history, finishing ACAA conference play with a 16-2 record. The Mounties finished the year as the top-ranked team in the CCAA.

Chase, in his fifth year with the Mounties, is a beloved member of the Mounties Athletics Department, according to Marcel Dupuis, Manager, Athletics at Mount Allison University.

“It is the selflessness by which he conducts himself with his team, in respect to the time that he gives to his student-athletes that sets the example throughout the department,” said Dupuis. “His approach to discipline and staying true to a routine are some of the reasons why our Women’s Basketball team climbed to No. 1 in the country.”

Chase is also the Director of Operations for Basketball New Brunswick and provides coaching and player clinics across the province. He was the mentor coach for New Brunswick Women’s U15 and Women’s U17 at the National Championships and the Canada Games.

Beyond the support for his own program, Chase is also a big supporter of the other Mounties varsity teams and is often seen cheering them on from the sidelines.

Chase will receive a customized ring provided by Jostens Canada, the Official Ring Supplier of the CCAA.
