Mystics Top Chargers, Advance To Semi-Final

Fredericton, NB – The Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics halted the Crandall Universities Chargers in the first match of the 2023 ACAA Women’s Basketball Championships at the Lady Beaverbrook Gym on Friday. The Mystics won by a score of 85-65.

MSVU flew out the gates in the first quarter thanks to Emily Holt. Holt finished with a stat line of 18 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, and three steals. She claimed the Player of the Match for MSVU.

The Chargers fought back for the rest of the first half, and they were led by star player Alexa Rancourt. She put up great numbers to keep the Chargers within shouting distance throughout the match. Rancourt ended the game with 16 points and 16 rebounds.

The Mystics took control in the second half as they maintained the lead through an outstanding, three-point shooting display by Alisha McNeil. She hit six three-pointers and went a perfect 5-5 from the free-throw line. McNeil amassed 25 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

The Mystics will be awaiting their next match, which is yet to be determined. After the completion of the St. Thomas University versus University of King’s College, the bracket will be set.
