The Department of Athletics and Recreation at Mount Saint Vincent University invites applications for the contract position of Cross Country Head Coach.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Cross Country Head Coach will provide leadership and coaching expertise to the varsity cross country program. The successful candidate will be responsible for recruitment, selection, and development, as well as the overall management and implementation of the cross country program, including practice planning, competition preparation, fundraising, and alumni relations. Strong leadership skills and experience in coaching athletes at a highperformance level are essential requirements for this position.

This position is honorarium based. It is important to note that due to the varied nature of university athletics and competition operations, the successful candidate must be available evenings and weekends, and be willing and able to travel. 

Minimum qualifications:

  • A University Degree in a related field 
  • Five years of experience coaching competitive cross country running
  • National Coaching Certification “Trained to CompeteTrained”
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Criminal record check

  • CAC Making Headway
  • CAC Rule of Two
  • CCAA Safe Campus
  • Excellent organizational, management, and communication skills
  • An understanding of the unique demands of being a student-athlete
