MONCTON, NB - The Crandall Chargers used a late rally to tie the UNB Saint John Seawolves 2-2 in the final match of the season.
The Seawolves opened the scoring quickly with Malek Karoui scoring in the 3rd minute of play, followed by a goal from Ryan Benner in the 14th minute. Both teams clamped down defensively until Chase Pennell finally broke through the Saint John defense with a goal in the 68th minute to get the Chargers on the board. Andres Mauricio Cardenas scored from a free kick in 77th minute to draw Crandall even. The Chargers pressured the Seawolves defense for the remainder of the match as they sought the go-ahead goal, but Saint John held firm to secure the draw.
Crandall finished the season in 5th place. UNB Saint John finished the season in 3rd place and advances to the ACAA Championships in Moncton, NB October 26-27, 2024.
