Mystics Hold Off Tommies to Secure Win in season home opener

Mystics Hold Off Tommies to Secure Win in season home opener

Amanda Pearcey started the game off red hot to help the Mystics jump out to and early 8 point lead after the first quarter. The teams played pretty much even in the second with several runs by each team. Both teams applied their defensive tactics and both teams were prepared to counter them with their offensive game plans. The Mystics opened up a 10 point lead with under five minutes to go but STU battled back to bring it within one shot. The Mystics held strong on defense, rebounded some key misses down the stretch and finished off the game by hitting some clutch free throws.

MSVU was led by Pearcey's 21 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists, Nikki Arsenault added 16 and Nalini Maharaj with 15. Stu top scorers were Celine Sterkel with 23, Katie Vidito with 13 and Paige Leblanc with 12.

No rest for either team tomorrow as MSVU travels to Crandall University for a 1pm game and STU travels accross the city to battle the UKC Blue Devils who are undefeated so far in this young season.
